THINGS TO DO

Blainroe residents and visitors are literally spoiled for choice when it comes to
leisure activities, summer or winter, rain or shine.

The following is just a sampling of the many things to do here.

Golf

Not surprisingly, many Blainroe homeowners are members of Blainroe Golf Club, just across the road. In addition, Druid’s Glen, The European Club, Glen Mill, Wicklow Golf Club, Arklow Golf Club, and many others are all within a short drive of Blainroe.

TENNIS

Blainroe has four tennis courts for residents. (See our Calendar for information about our summer tennis lessons and fun competitions). Wicklow Tennis Club on the main street offers family, senior, junior memberships and more.

Bowling and more

Wicklow Bowl on the Dublin Road offers ten-pin bowling, arcade games, pool tables and more. They also have a small café and massive Kids Zone soft play area upstairs – a great spot for a cuppa and a chat while the kids go wild!

Cinema, Shopping and Dining

The Bridgewater Shopping Centre has an Omniplex Cinema with nine screens including a MAXX screen, restaurants and coffee shops, and loads of shopping. And it’s only 20 minutes away in Arklow!

Gyms and Swimming

Coral Leisure on Station Road in Wicklow has a 25-metre heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, aerobics studio and fully-equipped gym. Wicklow Strength and Fitness offers personalised training and state-of-the-art fitness equipment in a ‘ginormous’ warehouse on the South Quays.

Horse Riding

Bel-Air Equestrian at the historic Bel-Air Hotel in Ashford, and Maltfield Stud Equestrian a little further south in Redcross, both offer breath-taking riding amid thousands of acres of forest, mountains and coastal scenery.

Wicklow Gaol

For a unique, historical, and (it has to be said) kind of creepy experience you’ll never forget, Wicklow Gaol is an historical museum in a restored Victorian prison, smack in the centre of Wicklow Town. In addition to their acclaimed interactive tours, they now also offer ‘The Gates of Hell,’ billed as Ireland’s ‘premier virtual reality experience.’ (Because you thought the gaol tour wasn’t scary enough!)

Accommodation and Restaurants

Wicklow Town and the towns and villages nearby have a wide range of hotels, B&Bs, pubs and an amazing array of restaurants with offerings from tasty fast food to local produce and the finest award-winning restaurants. Click here for more information.
